However, there are a few points to consider when choosing a web design theme. The WordPress web design should, of course, correspond to your own corporate design and be appealing. But does it also appeal to search engines? On the one hand, a website's ranking on Google, for example, depends heavily on the performance of the site. On the other hand, I have seen some beautiful WordPress themes, but often the speed of the site suffers as a result of the design, which Google may punish with a lower ranking.

That's why you should always test the loading speed when searching for a theme. This can be checked either with “PageSpeed Insights” or with Lighthouse in the Chrome browser. The test scores for “Performance,” “Accessibility,” and “Best Practices” should be at least 90%. By using cache plugins or similar tools on your own site, you can achieve scores above 90% in all tests.
